To be effective, MTSS for English Learners must incorporate culturally and linguistically responsive practices in every component.

● Session I: Participants will be able to:
▪ Describe an RTI framework for English Learners
▪ Identify the characteristics of school climates conducive to the success of English Learners
▪ Learn culturally and linguistically responsive practices for (a) assessment and progress monitoring; (b) instruction and intervention; and (c) data-based decision making
● Session II: Participants will be able to:
▪ Delineate strategies to accommodate diverse language proficiency and academic performance levels
▪ Describe strategies to monitor progress in response to instruction
▪ Use data-based decision-making strategies to direct or re-direct instruction
▪ Identify English Learners who would benefit from supplemental intervention in language and/or literacy
● Session III: Participants will be able to:
▪ Describe culturally and linguistically responsive Response to Intervention (RTI) practices
▪ Enumerate the characteristic of effective supplemental intervention for English Learners
▪ Describe strategies to monitor progress in response to intervention
▪ Identify students who may benefit from referral to special education
